Waiting for the local business
A lot of life is spent waiting, but it really doesn’t need to be that way if we just stay present.
There are a lot of things that it seems I am waiting for; my stocks to appreciate, a new girlfriend, seeing mom again, etc.
But if I keep spending my time waiting then my life will never quite be there where I want it to be. I’m focusing more on just enjoying what I have, even if I feel something is lacking, and realize that if I stop waiting then I will be more at peace. HVAC repairs are not the most fun thing in the world to do, but if I focus on cleaning this a/c unit or repairing an oil furnace and not think about when I’ll be done, I would appreciate the present more and it wouldn’t be so taxing. You can wait your whole life for something or other and never really enjoy what you had, which is kind of sad if you think about it. The HEPA filter sales lady always told me to concentrate my mind on what you are doing, whether it is cleaning a furnace filter or charging an HVAC system, and then you will find it a lot easier to do and time will pass by more smoothly. I am trying to heed her advice and am finding that the more I do the more fun life seems to be. I actually like cleaning ductwork when I am not thinking about how much longer till I finish with work and can go home.
